Main Takeaways
Axel is probably the best overall because he is really useful. Guild rates for most players make Axel the go-to pet against the 160 boss. It is also pretty solid for PvP settings. Additionally, Axel has a patronage ability and his defensive blob prevents one shots on casters. It is a very versatile pet.
The second best pet is definitely Chorus, mostly because of its indomitable ability. This ability was pretty much MVP during the cosmics battle where Smashmen were involved. The ability to block status effects is just really amazing. Chorus is probably the best option if you want to fight Leanne teams. Chorus is used a lot in PvP and is really good. However, it may not be as useful in guild raids and similar settings. If Chorus was better in guild raids, it would probably be ranked number one. The ability to block status effects at the beginning of combat is very powerful. Chorus also does extra damage to heroes like Isaac and Leanne, who are silence and charmers. This makes Chorus really good against those specific heroes. The resilience ability is another mage buff. It helps give magic damage dealers a shield. The hero who has the pet equipped gets a shield up to 100K protection based on their damage, and their allies get 50K protection. This can help mitigate a lot of damage on intelligence heroes like mage heroes. For example, if you are running Trinity twins, you can put Chorus on Celeste and she will get the 100K bonus, while Krista and Lars will both have a 50K bonus. This ends up being really good. Chorus is a very solid pet and is ranked number two.
Now it gets pretty tricky to determine the third best pet. Kane is probably the third best pet because dark patron is such a busted ability. This ability is what has made Aurora and heroes like Dante really good. This allows you to gain full energy after just three.

The fact that his patronage also boosts Dodge makes it more likely to be dodged. It is not a lot of Heroes who can use it for a long time. This is a quote from Aurora's pet. Yasmine has been added since then. Dante and Heidi have been buffed up since their initial release. Both Dante and Heidi were not very good Heroes when they were first released. Aurora's pet was pretty much just Aurora's pet at that time. Now, it is one of the Heroes you would use it on. This is just a really good pet with a busted buildability. Mastery is also pretty good. This is one of just two pet abilities that are active. Most pets don't really do anything in combat until they get at least 15 seconds in. This is a passive mitigation buff for your whole team that is active from the moment the battle starts.

Kane is very good versus a lot of physical attacking teams. Kane is given a mitigation boost as soon as the battle starts. Night shards is a physical attack. The more you dodge, the more of these Kunis he gets. You can have up to 20 of them. This could be really good versus certain Heroes. Kane could be tech versus Rufus teams. Kane has been used that way many times. This makes him very versatile. All his abilities are pretty solid. Kane is put in the third spot. Mara is put in the fourth spot. Her patronability, deadly weakness, is just really busted. The duration of control effects is tripled. If you put this on a rachne, herachne's old as a five second stun. If she has a Maxima Patron, it's now a 15 second stun. Mara can literally lock teams out of the game with control Heroes. This is just a really busted ability.

Mind control as an active pet is pretty mad. You really have to be able to strip out Serenity or use this against teams that don't have Sebastian. Dark guard does triple damage. This isn't too bad, but it's also not game-changing. There are usually better pets to use in combat. For Mara, it's almost purely for a patron skill. The patron skill is one of the best in the game. This is why you would use Mara. The fifth pet we're going to put is Albus. All three of his abilities are pretty solid. They are not absolutely game-breaking, but they are all pretty solid. It should be mentioned that he is the only pet that buffs magic defense.

Axle is mostly used because it gives more survivability, but Albus can be used to boost more damage. A pretty much maxed-out Stone Cold team is really needed to take advantage of Albus, or maybe maxed out except Martha.

Pure Victory is also pretty good as it increases pure damage dealt by the master and adds 75 percent damage. If this is put on a hero like Maya, 75 extra damage or Sebastian's 75 extra pure damage is added. He also adds magic attack physical attacks which almost effectively doubles the pure damage on a hero like Maya.

This is a really powerful ability and a pretty solid pat. The painter's abilities of Martin Kane are a lot more broken, though, just as a pure combat pet. Excellent chorus is generally better, which is why it is put in fifth place.

Now we get to the lower tier pets, and the next one is Oliver. Eternal Bloom is pretty solid, and it is essentially put on a tank hero or like Isaac if against Eternal keep. Oliver patreon is super important against the raid boss if you want to do massive damage against the raid boss. A strong Oliver patreon is really needed for Isaac. His combat abilities are okay versus physical damage, and this only works for physical hits. It gives protection against physical hits, but it's not that great.
Axel is generally considered to be a better protector for your team because it can protect against magic damage as well. The single target healing is only 22k, so it's not a big heal, it's pretty small.

Eternal Bloom is really all about the patreon ability. The combat ability is pretty mediocre, but the patreon is really solid.

In seventh place, we have Merlin. Merlin is the only pet that adds magic penetration, which is pretty relevant. There are times where you might put this on a hero like Celeste just to give her a magic penetration boost or some other hero. Aurora could even be put here if needed.

If you want to boost your magic penetration against Orion or something to maximize your Rainbow Halo damage, then this is not too bad because it creates a magical Distortion zone for five seconds. This is not a debuff and cannot be blocked by Australia. Enemies in the Distortion Zone will take double magic damage. This can double the damage enemies take if they're in that zone. It is a field effect, so in certain teams, this can be really effective. This one is a debuff.

Moving on to the eighth place, we have Biscuit. Biscuit can block partial healing of other heroes, but they can still heal themselves. All of our patron regen and vampirism still work if they self-heal. For heroes who can heal multiple targets, like Martha, she will still heal herself even if her healing no longer affects the other teams. However, this only lasts for five seconds, so if it was a longer debuff, it might be better.

Finally, we come to the worst pet in the game, Fenris. Fenris's ultimate ability blinds enemies for only three seconds, which is not that long. The stage effect can be blocked by Serenity, and it also does a bit of damage, but not much. The passive skill of blinding enemies results in them taking 50 more dab physical damage, but again, the blind effect only lasts three seconds.
