Helena – Orphan Black
This first place is most of all personal, admittedly, and at this time – also completely unsurpassable. Without any doubt, Helena from Orphan Black is my most favorite psychopath in fiction ever, full stop. One of the clones in a mysterious experiment, which lead to the creation of at least 10 different persons from the same DNA, Helena is completely bonkers and absolutely unpredictable.
She was raised by Ukrainian nuns, followed by a religious fanatic, so her brain has been conditioned to such an extent that she thinks she’s the original, who has been chosen by God to kill her clones. Furthermore, death amuses her – one of the cult scenes with her character shows her dancing with the tail of one of her victims.
Her character is further endowed with an eerie angelic element – she cuts her back with a barber’s knife, making what seems like a pair of angel wings. The truth, though, is that she’s really confused and she needs love. This, on the one hand side, takes some points off of her psycho-persona but doesn’t make her less adored by the fans of the show.
