During the development of the final seasons of Game of Thrones, a rather unusual idea was presented to the HBO executives by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

A concept was proposed for a series entitled "Confederate," set in an alternate version of the United States where the abolition of slavery never occurred.

This notion may be perceived as controversial and unsettling, don't you think?

However, the idea did not garner favor with the higher-ups, resulting in the project being shelved in 2017 and likely sealed with a "do not open" label.
