7 TV Shows Which Went on for Too Long

Supernatural – 12+ Seasons

Sam and Dean's story in Supernatural started out well and tight. The two brothers become demon hunters, having been traumatized after a demon killed their mother when they were young and Sam's girlfriend in the now at the beginning.

The main storyline takes place around the beginning and the end of the seasons and the mid is filled with a "monster of the week" type episodes. The two of them gradually get involved in the battle between Heaven and Hell.

The ideal finale comes about the end of the fifth season but the fans were so many that the TV station didn't want to quit on its high rating. As a result, new storylines start springing up, some insignificant events from the old seasons get overblown and as a whole – all sorts of gimmicks start taking place just so in order to milk the dried out universe.

Fans, journalists, critics – all of them are asking themselves "When will it end?" but the end never seems to come. No one can say exactly how many times our characters have died and have been resurrected. Probably the scriptwriters themselves have forgotten. As a matter of fact, the ongoing 12th season isn't that bad. Few of the original fans will see it, though – most of them gave up on the show years ago and they probably can't believe the series is still ongoing. The asking will continue as there's news of an official order of a 13th season, so probably no one in the TV business is thinking of ending it soon.
